Many great people who have existed only have their achievements and accomplishments in the spotlight, but what about their past? These people had failures-many failures, but they had an essential character trait called perseverance that made them able to reach their target. In this world people who have the ability to persevere end up being one of the successful people in the world because they had gained progress through each obstacle. Abraham Lincoln, a man known for his outstanding work during the civil war in keeping the union together had failed countless times running for political positions finally reached a position of power, but if he had stopped after he lost his first battle he would have never earned that place. In 1935 Abraham had a nervous breakdown from failing in business twice and losing a legislative election, but that didn’t stop him from trying over and over in those same elections and races. In 1993 Rowling was penniless, divorced, jobless, and with a dependent child, but she had faith in her novel despite everything in her life being so hopeless and before she knew it she became the 13th most wealthiest woman in Britain. During a few difficult years she felt like she was “on a psychic treadmill, trying to keep up with where she was.” because “everything changed so rapidly” in her life (Rowling).
