Was Alexander really all that Great? Alexander the Great was the King of Greece. His father was King Philip who ruled over Macedonia, where Alexander was born. He was born somewhere around 356 BCE. Alexander became the most famous person in history there is evidence of how he was not so great unlike his name infers. Alexander was not great for these reasons, he was ruthless, power hungry, and unmerciful. Alexander burnt down the citie of Tyre and sold 30,000 men, women, and children into slavery. He also crucified 2,000 men of military age.(Document C) This shows evidence of ruthlessness because he had no empathy or compassion for other only for himself and his crew. This supports my claim because he obviously wanted something out of this for power if he just kept conquering and never stopped until he got sick and died one
