During an era of acute progressivism, Calvin Coolidge, a staunch conservative, contrasted greatly with the mainstream liberal politicians in his perpetual drive to preserve the foundation that the United States was built upon. Nicknamed Silent Cal, he spoke and worked in a focused, deliberate manner with complete focus on preserving the nation rather than preserving his personal image. Throughout his seven years in office, Coolidge demonstrated his impervious morals through tax cuts and an extreme isolation in foreign policy to more effectively focus on the conservation of the American foundation. He further demonstrated this through the admirable values he exhibited during his service: public service, preservation of tradition, and hard work. This conciseness in speech and intensive focus on cutting taxes and boosting the economy contrasts the current political spectrum in which the president, Donald Trump, soaks up the vivacious attention that the media provides which diverges significantly from Calvin Coolidge’s method. Coolidge worked behind the scenes and allowed his decisive actions to demonstrate his accomplishments rather than peddling behind the scenes political plays and soaking up the addicting attention that exposure to media fosters. Because of his simple belief that his actions spoke louder than his words, he was able to limit the expanding bureaucracy and propel pivotal conservative legislation through congress and prevent the propagation of progressive proposals that would further expand the bloated national debt and weaken the expanding
