Imagine this, you as an individual has to live in a world/society that the government has total control over you. You as an individual, have no say in any of the rules enforced. All anyone is allowed to do is sit back, and play by the rules, if they are disobeyed, then a consequence will be set upon you. I am reading Anthem, by Ayn Rand and this book is exactly how a society is in a Dystopian world. The government should not have any rights whatsoever to control individuals because one, anyone should be able to take notice of the opposite sex without punishment, two, an individual should get to have their own freedom/thoughts and express them, and lastly, everyone should be able to admire themselves without getting in trouble with the law. …show more content…
Equality states, “men are forbidden to take notice of women, and women forbidden to take notice of men”(37). This is one of the main reasons the government should not be allowed to control an individual, because it is wrong for a citizen to have to live in a world, where wanting to love someone, or admire them for who they are is wrong. Having this rule in action will make it so no individual will find happiness and get to share their lives with another.
Another important reason that the government should not be able to control an individual is because everyone no matter what, should get the right to have freedom and express their thoughts freely without getting a consequence. Equality claims, “there is no transgression blacker than to do or think alone”(11). This rule is absolutely absurd, every single person should get to express how they feel, or what upsets them without a punishment that could last a lifetime. With this rule in place people may feel like they do not matter because they are getting no say in a rule that could change their
