This quote shows a similarity to the plotline of Fahrenheit 451, a book written by Ray Bradbury. The book, Fahrenheit 451 is a book about the main character, Guy Montag, who is a firefighter for the 24th century. He progresses in the book from a follower in society to a leader. Ray Bradbury’s viewpoint of Guy Montag and his development throughout the book is that the character is himself. He sees Guy Montag as himself because he has a deep compassion for books, has multiple characters with highly contrasting personalities, and society had an influence in his viewpoints. First thing that Ray Bradbury sees in Guy Montag throughout his development in the story is that he see’s himself because of his compassion for books. The main plot for the story is that Montag is trying to find a life with books. He has a deep love for books, even though he doesn’t fully understand them. This could all be true because the author, Ray Bradbury already sees himself in Montag. They both share a compassion for books. In Ray Bradbury's interview he states that “...I just let them speak. I don't control them; I simply give them a odium and let them talk to me” (p. 185). This quote says that the characters control themselves.
