“The Holocaust was the systematic, bureaucratic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million Jews by the Nazi regime and its collaborators.” The word “holocaust” comes from a greek word meaning “sacrifice by fire”. The man responsible for the starting of this mass murder was a guy called “Hitler”. It was the Nazis who followed Hitler that would regulate the Jews and keep them in control while the Jews were in concentration camps, and were also responsible for the murder of people. The mass murder of innocent people lasted roughly around four years. Jews that tried to find safety in other countries were often turned away or refused. The killing of 6 million Jews could have been prevented if only countries would have accepted the Jews, the facts, and had helped to stop Hitler. Some of the reasons because they were too afraid. What those people didn’t think of was how afraid the Jews that were being killed right before their own families eyes must have been. Those countries and those people didn’t stop and think about what if that had been them? What if it were them that were being taken away from their family, put in harsh concentration camps, and then watched as one by one their family members died. Even though they knew what was happening to millions of innocent people, they were too scared to get involved. They didn’t want to make trouble for their own country and people. Those countries did not want enemies. Some also may have been motivated not to do anything because of how powerful Hitler had become.Some did not also want to get involved because they didn’t want to, or did not feel it was worth the time, energy, and money to fight back against the Nazis and Hitler.
