Author Manasa Saarloos once stated, “I don’t wish to be successful, but I definitely wish to be successful in helping someone, sometimes for something good.” This quote emphasizes what nonprofit organizations are all about, that it is not how an individual is successful but how successful someone is in helping other people succeed. The most honest and clear structure to truly help the world is through non-profit organizations. The purpose of nonprofit organizations is to serve the public interest. It is an organization whose true purpose is not profit, but to be charitable, educational, scientific, or religious. Nonprofits have been growing and continuing to survive against economic hardship in recent years due to many changes in the overall system of nonprofits. Tera Qualls writes about how “Formal organizations are no longer the only way to get things done. Individuals can raise money and follow a cause without being part of an organization. To increase your network and results organizations have to learn how to leverage the interests of all the individuals participating in these ‘informal” organizations’.” There is a growing demand for nonprofit organizations to be able to achieve certain results and in the future, it will become much easier for individuals to be able to run nonprofit and achieve profitable results. Larger nonprofit organization are continuing to grow harder to manage. There is a growing demand for nonprofits to be able to clearly show what results they hope to achieve and track whether those results are actually happening. It is becoming easier to do that as a smaller organization rather than operating on a traditional basis. Nonprofits are also changing the way they get volunteers and employees. Qualls states “there are online tools that organizations can use to leverage volunteers on different levels and at all times of the day. The future of nonprofits will not be based on charity alone. The current system is not a fix all cure and nonprofits will have to start working on not only the charity but the business side of the organization. Improvements need to be made in investments, relationships with government, and overall strength of nonprofit operations. The future of nonprofits looks bright and hopefully different organizations can find better ways to educate the public on nonprofit
