Why Baseball Is Important To Me

One extracurricular activity that has been meaningful to me is baseball. Many things in my life have changed in seventeen years, but baseball has always been a constant. Baseball has been a constant in my life since I was three years old. Baseball has taught me many life lessons and has built many lasting relationships and strengthened existing ones.

One of the many life lessons that this activity has taught me is that even if things are not going as well as I would like, they will always improve. Whether it's a streak of hitless games or the grief of losing a loved one, things will always look up. Another life lesson that baseball has taught me is that it is ok to take calculated risks, even if when you take those risks you do not succeed, but no matter what happens you always have to learn from the risks you take. If you want to throw the full count curveball, do it. Who cares if you walk the batter you can always get him next time. If you get caught stealing it's ok, just learn that next time you have to get a better jump or a bigger lead.
