Why Celebrities Are Bad Role Models In today’s society, when the average American wakes up, they usually turn on their television or scroll through their phone. The first thing they look to is their favorite sports player, reality queen, or relatable talk show host. These celebrities are the people that ordinary Americans look up to everyday, whether it is for new fashion advice, sports play, and maybe recipes. However, there are some disadvantages to being a celebrity role model; the pressure can be too much and sometimes cause celebrities to act in a way that is inappropriate and unsafe. Role models should be someone a person knows and looks up to, not someone who they just see on T.V. Celebrities should not be role models because they turn to drugs and alcohol, want attention, and go from good to bad. Everything a celebrity does is scrutinized for the public to see, from walking their dogs in the park to attending a party that ended in DUI. These headlines are then splashed across every website, newspaper, and social media application Americans have access to.
