These men grew weak and starved of hunger and thirst, it was not an easy journey. In the fall of 1532 Cabeza met up with the few survivors who had been enslaved by the other Indian groups. They made a plan to escape and walk to Mexico City that would take 21 months and require a great amount of skill and patience. So, how did Cabeza survive?
