Why Did People Choose To Live In Into The Wild

Why would somebody choose to leave their daily live to go live in the wild? Everyday people go through struggles but not all choose to go live in the wild. Chris McCandless often asked himself “how to escape from their reality?” and he then went on to live in the wild with limited resources. A person may decide to go live in the wild because of family issues, everyday struggles, and to live in a different lifestyle.
People choose to leave their daily lives to go live in the wild because of family issues. In the stories Glass Castle and Into the Wild, the main characters, Jeannette, Brian Walls, and Chris McCandless, went through this. Jeannette and Brian Walls were dealing with their father, Rex Walls, that was a drunk and wasted money on alcohol. Rex also made many promises to them and didn’t follow through with them. Jeannette and Brian Walls for example, had to dig in the garbage at school for food because they couldn’t afford food (Wells Chapter 11). They also had holes in a lot of their clothes and never were properly dressed for the climate they were in. When they lived in Welch, a lot of times it was very cold and the kids didn’t have the right clothing for the cold. Katniss, the main character in the Hunger Games, also struggled getting food for her family so she went into boundaries she wasn’t allowed to be in just so she could get enough food for her and her family (Collins Chapter 1). She also lived in an unfair district and went into the games because her sister was chosen to go out of her own will. Despite having family issues or everyday struggles, some people may decide to leave their daily lives because they want to live in a different lifestyle than what they’re currently living
