The Civil War: Why Did Texans Fight?

Many people know about the Civil War and how gruesome it was, but do you know why Texas fought in the Civil War? Sam Houston felt strongly about secession, he refused to take an oath of loyalty to the new confederacy . Texas fought in the Civil War for, State Rights, Love for Texas, and Slavery. Texas fought in the civil war for their state rights. In Doc.C it states that each individual state should be able to do what they want. And also said no state shall be able to lawfully get out of the union. I agree with the last statement because I think every state has to be loyal to the union and should not be able to leave that easy. Another reason Texas fought in the Civil War was for the love of Texas.
