Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road Analysis

When we decided to make a procedural document about crossing the road, it was an immediate consensus opinion that we wanted to reference the classic “why did the chicken cross the road” joke. We did not want to do it in such a way that made the joke painfully obvious. Our document also references the original nihilist interpretation of the joke, but subverts it by having the chicken survive which is a good thing since we are supposed to be the chicken in the narrative of the document. Once we decided to that we wanted to make the document this way, we then filled out the audience profile.

Audience Profile
People lead busy lives. College students arguably lead busier ones. Infamous are the habits of college drivers getting to their next destination and student walkers doing the same thing. Often these two groups must share the road and do so safely. These people are action-takers; they are people on a mission to their next group project meeting, class, or social gathering. And, in order to improve the safety of all involved, it is necessary for them to take a step back and remember what should truly be valued on high-volume streets such as those cutting through Indiana University’s campus-their lives.
