Becoming One Nation was a long battle for all races. Being divided by race always kept us from being strong and from being friends and not enemies. The Civil War declared that the United States reduced sectional antagonism to be, “one nation”. Sectionalism was a base of series of disputes, but one person had a different view on the racist act, Abraham Lincoln was one of the first presidents to have something to say about Slavery. While we was in the dispute about races, we, The United States, was growing weaker by being divided, only because of the belief other races were our enemies.

The Civil war was a huge ordeal back in 1861. But the main question to this is, why did the Civil war start? The Civil war started because of the piling up of events occurring around people back in the 1840s-1860s. Sectionalism started the war, taking a huge …show more content…

Lincoln seen as others had dissatisfied fellow-countrymen, and not his, he thought this was the momentous issue of the Civil War, being the reason again, why we wasn’t “One nation”, because we was using others as our slaves so we had no work, just to reward them when the job was done, or punish them if they disobeyed.
