The liberty bell symbolizes freedom in the United States of America, it is located in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. The bell was originally called the “State House Bell” or the “Province Bell”. It was rung during the first reading of the Declaration of Independence on July 8, 1776, it was abolitionists in the 1830s who gave it the new name “Liberty Bell.” The Declaration of Independence was adopted by the Continental Congress but the bell was rung four days after. As the British advanced toward Philadelphia in the fall of 1777, the bell was taken away from the city and concealed in Allentown to rescue it from being melted down by the British and used to make cannons.
