Why Do Anabolic Steroids Be Banned

Hello this is Brett Tomlinson senior at Glenbard East HS writing about the banned use of anabolic steroids. I have been heavily under this subject because I have played baseball all my years at highschool and the talk about performance enhancing drugs among any high school is very prevalent.

To start off there is an immense amount of teens using these drugs, according to mayoclinic there is 1 in 20 teens using performance enhancing drugs. So why not allow and regulate these drugs so teens do not ruin their future, or even worse take something they think is going to help them and it is a totally different drug and hurts them instead of helping them. People have this misconception that if you take steroids you are going to have these crazy side effects guaranteed but in reality if taken properly there is a small risk of any side effect. According to Dr.Richard “Generally speaking, a short course of steroids, usually regarded as less than three months, will not cause serious side effects.” This being said if an athlete or just regular person wants to enhance their game or just physical life without being a slave to the gym they can without major side

Anyone can walk into a pharmacy and purchase whatever type of steroids they want. So by the way America views steroids Mexico would have a steroid problem. Infact Mexico has less deaths by steroids and less emergency room visits than America. Why would this be if they were legal? It mainly has to do with people that want to use steroids in America or Mexico is going to use them no matter what, the difference here is in Mexico they are regulated and actually are the substance they say they are. In America you can “buy” T3 but it might not be T3. Yes people can buy steroid test kits but most people do not want to waste money on every vial they get. In Mexico it is a much cleaner and safer process. Also this shows they are not an addicting
