When hundreds of lives, including yours, could you step up to the plate to save others from an armed individual if you were unarmed? Coming from a licensed and registered gun owner and user, it should go without saying that guns are not dangerous without a dangerous individual behind them. Legislation for campuses nationwide are fighting to ban guns on college campuses. Thousands of American citizens will agree that if an individual walks into a room armed with a gun with intentions to harm those present, that individual could potentially be stopped by bystanders in the room who are licensed and registered gun owners as long as they have the legal right to carry on college campuses. There is no disagreement that gun violence nationwide is astounding and there is an outstanding rise in gun violence on college campuses. Those who walk into a classroom, office building, sporting event or any other location with large numbers of college students, staff and other bystanders present with wrongful intentions, will carry-out their actions with or without gun-banning laws in place. Students should be required to register their gun with the school with valid copies of gun safety coursework and licensure stating they successfully completed the needed gun safety courses as well as legally registered the gun in their name. The school should be held responsible for all of this information and keep private from anyone other than law enforcement officials needed in certain circumstances. The administration should only release this information if needed for a related incident where gun violence has occurred or if the registered gun owner has committed an unrelated crime which restricts the individual from carrying or owning a
