On the tablet of the Statue of Liberty it says, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Isn’t freedom something that we long for? Freedom from being judge, or whatever you are trying to get escape from. Immigrants are people trying to make a living just like you, and me. Immigrants add diversity to the world. There are many different motives why immigrants decide to migrate; and the journey comes with a lot of risk. There are different ways that we can approach the immigration problem and resolve it. There is not just one particular reason why immigrants migrate. Each one of them has their own motive as to why they decided to leave. Immigrants can migrate because of natural or manmade disasters. They can also be trying to escape from religious, political, racial, or sexual oppression. Or they can be trying to make a better life for themselves or for their families. In an …show more content…
The journey can be very dangerous. On the journey to your new destination you may have to endure harsh weather and always sleep with your eyes wide open hoping your worst dream doesn’t come true, getting caught. You might not even make it to your end destination. In the Immigrants and Immigration article it says,” On April 9, 2015 at least eight hundred Libya immigrants died when their boat capsized; they were trying to escape from their war-torn homes in hope of a better life in Europe.” People are dying to have a better life. Even if you do make it there are still struggles. It is difficult learn and speak a new language, especially if you are older. It’s also difficult securing a job, or house, if you don’t know how to communicate. It can be hardest thing when you can’t help your children when they need help in school or when they need to go to the doctors. But just because it’s difficult doesn’t mean it can be done.
