(Counter Argument)Juvenile courts believe that offenders should be given second chances and we should be more lenient with them. Allowing easier sentences helps minors to rehabilitate since they believe that teens are capable of learning from their mistakes, that they are too young to understand the gravity of their actions. Tried as adults gives them a higher risk of being abused inside the jail facility and they come out more dangerous and damaged than before. But are all this considerations taken in mind for adult criminals who commit the same exact horrible crime? Age should not be a factor taken in mind when punishing his/her actions. If not to finish the severity of the crime , then to provide justice to the victim and the family. But what happens when the child gets used to the punishment, spankings, and repercussions ? They will rise up and become more insubordinate than ever with their parents. They no longer fear discipline/punishment making it easier for them to get away unacceptable behavior. Teens are still getting away with crimes when set free, on probation, or parole. Courts, schools, nor our society should allow child rapist, murders, and other dangerous felons to get away with unspeakable actions. They crimes they commit are are inherently adult in nature, Matter fact if minors who committed crimes were tried as adults and punished. The number of violent crimes committed by youth would drastically decline. With the use of stiffer and longer punishments, Victims wouldn't worry about their offenders being set free.
