Marijuana is the most illicit drug used worldwide today, yet it’s used to benefit our well-being. Although, some consider marijuana a gateway drug, research has shown that it doesn’t open doors to addictive drugs such as heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. So, why are people opposing the use of medical marijuana if it’s not a gateway drug? In many cases, medical marijuana is prescribed to treat people who experience nausea, poor appetite, excessive weight loss, muscle spasms, seizure disorders and Crohn’s disease. Studies have shown that medical marijuana improves lung capacity, due to long breath inhalations. No one yet has died due to smoking marijuana. Yet, 430,000 people die each year in the United States due to smoking tobacco and it’s still legal. …show more content…
