Have you ever wondered who and why people wrote the Enlightenment?
John Locke, Adam Smith, Voltaire, and Mary Wollstonecraft are the creators and processors of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was created during the 17th and 18th century, which was also a period of many changes. The Enlightenment really helped everyone in the past and in the future because it just sets a mood to let people have rights.
Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the four thinkers of the Enlightenment. Women didn’t have rights during this time, therefore Mary wanted equal rights for all women. He supports this by saying “Every man… is left perfectly free to pursue his own interest in his own way…”. The evidence relates to the the thesis because it tells the reader how Adam Smith was saying all people have the right to pursue what they want.
Voltaire was one of the people who wanted to have the right of letting have the right to change religion. Evidence that supports his reason is ”If one religion only were allowed in England. The government would very possibly become arbitrary if there were two, the people would cut one another’s throats, but as there are such a multitude, they all live happy and in peace”. The evidence supports his idea of how he was talking about how many religions until others “cut each other's throats”.
John Locke main idea was all people have rights to change the government.
He is very similar to Adam Smith because they both wanted/believed that people have rights. Evidence that supports his main idea is “When the government is dissolved, the people are at liberty to provide for themselves, by erecting a new legislative lawmaking body.”.
