Why Does Macbeth Want To Kill The King

When Macbeth realizes the king must die for him to become king he want to assassinate the king. Macbeth thinks “Whose horrid image doth unfix my hair, And make my seated heart knock at my ribs, ”(1.III.). After having these thought he feels repulsed at himself, although he wants power he does not want to hurt the king. This shows he wants to kill the king but he is trying to resist his needs. Later on, Lady Macbeth thinks Macbeth should kill Duncan so they will become royalty. When Macbeth is thinking of killing the king he realizes “ First, as I am his kinsman and his subject”(1.VII). This means he can not do it because he is suppose to serve the king not harm him. Macbeth thinks “ To be thus is nothing,But to be safely thus. Our fears in Banquo”(3.I).He wants to kill Banquo because he think he know too much and he might suspect him of killing Duncan. He is so obsessed with his power he is willing to kill his friend before he loses his status as king. As Macbeth realizes he has to find a way to get rid of anyone who might take his power. He goes to the evil witches and demands,“I conjure you by that which you profess— Howe'er you come to know it—answer me”(4.I).He doesn't care how or where the witches get their answer as long as they help Macbeth keep his power secure. He is willingly going to unknown and evil women to find a way to continue being
