The Beatles are a highly regarded band in today’s society because of their influential music pieces. Written by Paul McCarthy before his separation from the band The Beatles in March 1970, the song “Let It Be” was released. The Beatles have won a variety of awards ranging from a Grammy Award in 1968 for Album of the Year to another Grammy Award in 2014 for the Lifetime Achievement Award. “Let It Be” is an outstanding song that conveys lyrical meaning, figurative language, and relatable connections easily established with the listener.

His constant repetition of the song’s title conveys to the listener that in the end everything will be okay. The reiteration builds confidence in the listener, and encourages people that moving on in their lives could possibly be the best decision they can make in their lives. Paul Mccarthy used symbolism in his song by stating, “And when the night is cloudy,/There is still a light that shines on me…” The use of symbolism in these two lines are basically saying that when times get tough, good times are sure to follow. Even though the world may seem dark and terrifying at times, there will always be aftereffect that will shine light on the future. Paul McCarthy also uses symbolism when he states, “When I find myself in times of trouble/ Mother Mary comes to me/ Speaking words of wisdom, let it be.” In this song, Mother Mary is not a religious figure, but is referring to Paul McCarthy’s mother. These lines show symbolism of the relationship tie between the younger and older generations. Even at an older age people will still look up to the elders for life advice. Hearing words of wisdom from elders can boost the young’s decency and reassure the young’s decisions towards life changing
