Why Generation Y Yuppies Are Unhappy
The article is written by author Tim Urban the article was published by The Huffington Post. Urban starts out introducing Lucy who is a stick figure to demonstrate Generation Y. Generation Y is people ages 20-35. Urban explains why Lucy (generation Y) is unhappy throughout the article he gives many reasons and details about reasons behind the unhappiness. When someone’s life is better than they thought, it would make them happy but when it’s not better that was they thought it would make them unhappy.
Urban explains that Lucy parents were baby boomers who were raised by the greatest generation (great depression era) Her grandparents were big into security economically that is, and raised their children

Urban stereotypes generation Y by lumping them together he says many things such as they all believe they are a special but also “Gen Y Protagonists & Special Yuppies, or GYPSYs.” Throughout the text, he makes all people in generation Y seem the same which was convincing in a way for the readers.
Urban uses sarcastic and passionate languages in the article which may come off as being rude to the audience by being that way he could either turn off the audience from what he is saying or the audience may enjoy it.
Urban refers to social media in the article Urban said “Social media creates a world for Lucy where A) what everyone else is doing is very out in the open, B) most people present an inflated version of their own existence, and C) the people who chime in the most about their careers are usually those whose careers (or relationships) are going the best, while struggling people tend not to broadcast their situation. This leaves Lucy feeling, incorrectly, like everyone else is doing really well, only adding to her misery.” which is a good way for the audience to relate to what he is saying. So many people use social media today and by referring to social media it allows the reader to understand his points I felt he did a great job communicating to the audience by using social media to explain and show people how it affects generation
