High school is one of the most stressful and important part of a student’s educational career and can change a student’s life for the better or worse. Many students complain about how the school day beings way to early saying things like, “I didn’t get any sleep last night because I had to study for the test today.” or “I slept through my alarm and got to school late.” The board of education is debating on starting high school later, but that would only make matters worse. High school shouldn’t start at a later time because there is no lenience in the future, there are students who have jobs, and it messes up the scheduling of other schools. To begin, the high school schedule shouldn’t be changed because there will be no lenience in the future. High school is about preparing students for the future and those four years of school can have a great impact on how they see the world outside of just school life. In life people must pay money for almost everything they have and if those things aren’t paid for then they are gone! Most students coming out of high school will get a job and they are required to go to work when they are required to. High school is the year where students begin to reach out and try new things but it is not the year where teenagers get special privileges. High school shouldn’t start later because, as adults the students will not get a choice on when they have to start work or not, students with jobs will be less likely to make it to work on time, and starting high school later means other school levels will also have to adapt to a new schedule change.
