Why I Chose Nursing Scholarship

Growing up as a middle child has really shaped me into the person I am today. At an early age I had already recognized that in order to receive attention I would need to fight for it. I have a constant urge to achieve ambitious standards. At times, the fear of failure can be a constant struggle to deal with, but on the other hand, it is what keeps me motivated and eager to learn and grow. I thrive on success and want nothing but to prove that I can do anything I set my mind too. I set goals and do not stop until they are met. I am very strategic when it comes to planning anything, especially my future. I think ahead and remain on my toes at all times to catch any curve balls that are thrown my way. Becoming a student at the University of Nebraska Omaha has definitely been a rightful decision. I am currently a freshman who is awakened by all the grand opportunities that college has to provide me. I fell in love with the idea of getting to use my knowledge and skills to not only change lives, but help save them. Growing up I worked in a nursing home. I got to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of it all, but through the experience I learned three important things. The first, no matter what job I choose within the healthcare field it is going to take perseverance and a whole lot of determination. I do not think one can achieve a dream without the two. Now, the second lesson was that compassion is key. In order to help others, I must be able to show benevolence towards those in need. Lastly, I learned that you must put others before yourself. In the end, it is all about the patient and the help that they deserve. Entitling a qualified healthcare professional to provide them with the absolute best
