I have always looked forward to going back to school after a break. The thrill of learning something new is abuzz across the campus, and for me, it is magnified when I can construct something new in a science lab. Science classes have been my strong suit since I started school. As a young child, I enjoyed chemistry experiments and my favorite teachers were always my elementary and middle school science instructors. In high school, science has not been as straightforward as it had been for me. I breezed through biology, but found significant roadblocks in chemistry and now in physics. Despite these difficulties, science is still my preferred subject. Upon receiving my schedule for the junior year, I was ecstatic to find that I was in an engineering design class. It had been one of my dreams to learn to properly use any AutoCAD program, especially after multitudes of failed …show more content…
The science lab has brought elements of knowing how the world works and seeing that we need to help it. We cannot ignore climate change affecting the planet; science proves it with facts. Engineering has brought the ability to design the things that can help the planet. I plan to employ my interests to help change the world and slow the effects of climate change by going into renewable energy engineering. Renewable energy engineering is a premier field of engineering, being one of the most demanded fields. While the US may not be investing as much as before in the development of renewables, other countries have. China, Germany, France, and even Iceland are leading the drive for renewable energy. These countries know that renewables will be one of the pathways to slowing the deadly effects of climate change. Reducing the emissions of greenhouse gases by replacing energy sources that emit them with ones that do not is a simple step that the world must take to help the
