Why I Want To Attend College

All throughout high school, I never gave much thought about what I wanted to do after graduation. I was between working to open up my own business and attending college. It was not until it was almost too late, that my brother, Joey, recommended submitting an application just as a fall back plan. I reluctantly applied to the University of Texas at San Antonio. I did so because, if I did go to college, I wouldn’t be too far from my family. The summer passed quickly while I worked every day, often times up to fourteen hours a day, and when I looked back, I saw that I devoured the totality of my earnings. I was draining myself with all of the work I would do for miniscule amounts as a day laborer. It was that moment, I decided I needed something better for myself and chose to attend UTSA in the fall of 2014. I was so grateful that Joey practically forced me to apply for college. Consequently, I was forced to miss a week of classes due to what I believed to be a basic sickness. At the end of that week I knew something was more than wrong. I lost nearly twenty pounds and consistently struggled to hold down a meal for practically seven days. I began seeing doctor after doctor trying to improve myself, but to no avail. Often times I would be obligated to ask my brothers to drive me, as I was far too weak.
