Why You Want To Be Captain: For most people, the position of captain is given to those whom the rest of the team respect and trust to lead the team in the right direction. I want to engage in a very important role of helping out the coach and preparing my teammates to become productive, and with these types of responsibilities I can attain great pride and joy. A good captain can be defined as someone who always pushes themselves, the coach, and their teammates to want to do their best while at the same time trying to make practice as fun and creative as it can be. I want to be captain because it’ll give me a chance to be able to interact more with the team. I also want to be captain because I feel I follow the role of a captain; I carry the traits of being a captain: responsible, strong work ethic, work hard play hard, listener, strive for success,easy to work with and caring. I believe that anyone who takes on a leadership role shouldn’t be a dictator. The leader should be representing the team as a whole. They should be able to bring out everyone’s best qualities and use it to the team’s advantage. To me, it means, anyone on the team is able to communicate with me for assistance in terms of friendship and leadership inside and outside of practice. I am able to provide the necessary patience and confidence to all the other teammates. It means I am able to pull the team together through thick and thin, win or lose, and keep everyone's eye on the goal. It means I am responsible for running pre-game stretching and warm-ups, and getting my teammates in the right mindset to perform.
