A Pitiful Woman The woman, gingerly and perseveringly to maintain the family, but, still firmly believes that the marriage is the most important career in her whole life, believes that the life that can possess a lovely husband and cute child is complete. However, often the woman who give everything in the marriage, eventually doesn’t have a satisfying and happy ending, which is so pitiful. In Arthur MIller’s The Crucible, there are numerous colorful characters, like honorous John Proctor, coward Mary Warren and fearsome Giles Corey. But, at this time, Elizabeth Proctor, a good, moral and upright woman, is playing a significant role in pitiful parts during this witchcraft event. As a married woman that is thirty years old, Elizabeth Proctor already has three boys, this period should be the most beautiful and happy for her, however, she doesn’t earn that in fact.
