Why Family Theory is Most Effective
Family therapy is an effective structure that focuses on families and how they relate information to one another. It provides the communication and union of a family as an emotional unit. This consists of systematic thinking and evaluates parts of a system in a relation standpoint of each member then the whole family. The practical concepts adheres to an individual’s behavior and if their inseparable from the functioning of his or her family of origin. “Family therapy considers families as a system, systems that essentially develop rules and interacts, and systems that affect the psychological health of all those involved” (Brown, 2008). Families have an immense influence on an individuals’ life.

Family theory approaches fall under categories of strategic, structural and intergenerational family theory (Brown, 2008). Counselor can achieve goals by using clear and precise concepts to measure what occurring with a family directly by observing their ideas, feelings, and behaviors (Family Solutions Institute. n.d.). Family members usually have different points of view. It’s sometimes harder working with family member than friends. People usually feel as if they can’t relate with their love ones and they can be more opinionated. The goal is break the barriers in family patterns, improve relationships and change behaviors evaluated the structure of the family (Capuzzi, & Gross, 2011).
