Why Is Harrison Bergeron Truly Equal

I highly believe that no one in the short story “Harrison Begeron” was equal. For example, George and Hazel, one person had a headache every few seconds while the other did not, does that seem equal. It does not, I see that they want to slow his thoughts and Intelligence, ability, but that is unequal if you were to do that to one person why not do it to all. The handicapper general should see the fault and She only had three decisions for someone of the matter. She would either have to kill anyone with above average intelligence, give everyone an intelligence, handicap and let many innocents suffer, or to be unfair and lie to everyone. However, does anyone even need to consider any of the choices. “Diana Moon Glampers loaded the gun again. She aimed it at the musicians and told them they had ten seconds to get their handicaps back on. (Page 8)” If they really were equivalent, why did the ruler act as a communist demanding power. I disagree that everyone was truly equal in the short story. “...the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking the unfair advantage of their brains.(page 2)” Many, many people work endlessly on studying and expanding their brains, people such as George, to tear that down since other people didn’t care to build their brains is unequal and unfair. It is unequal to handicap someone and not the other, it is showing that someone needed to be punished for being different while the other doesn’t. Though George worked relentlessly on his above average intelligence, people shamed it in this society, and I find that very pessimistic that a person would actually shame that.
