Honor is an act of honesty and fairness with respect for superior acts by admired people. Moveover a quote I found on the internet worded ” No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave .”(Calvin Coolidge) This goes by saying that no man with honors gets the recognition and admirations by what he got from the outcome but for all their hard work and commitments. Honor is often displayed by men of war when in battle. It shows a man's heart by testing his integrity; the key to having honor is respecting others and yourself. Soldiers receive medals of honor for going beyond military standards against enemies actions to overcome serious challenges. It is a highly decorated piece to obtain for hard work. For instance, William Harvey Carney Jr a young African American male soldier went above and beyond during the civil war. Carney Jr’s squad was sent to South Carolina when they came into close combat with the enemy. After Carney’s men were pinned down in a hard position, he continued to seize the flag and prevent it from touching the ground despite his wounds and the gunfire around him. His unit remained pinned until reinforcements came upon them and helped them out of the situation.. Carney continued to struggle while making it back to camp collapsing stating” Boys the old flag never touched the ground.”(Helm, Matt).
There are many ways a person can honor themselves. Honor yourself by appreciating you for being you.Be honest with yourself, love yourself, do things you love,respect yourself, and forgive yourself. Many people who don’t have any honor for themselves often lead to depression and over stimulation of themselves. Lisa Neuweg sums it all up as “accepting all parts of ourselves the good and the bad, the perfect and imperfect,the disappointments and triumphs.”(
