During the age of dissent and division, Martin Luther stood out as a significant figure because he believed that the Catechism was of uppermost importance and therefore felt it should be represented correctly. At the time, Martin Luther considered pastors and preachers from the church as corrupt because they never committed themselves to reading the old manuals that served as spiritual guides leading Christians to heaven. After individuals with this type of authority disregarded the solemnity, the common people took up after them and looked at the Catechism as if it consisted of simple principles. It is because of this circumstance that many believed the society could function without pastors and preachers. They were able to draw this conclusion because all of the necessary information that they were being taught was found in books. With this information being accessible at the fingertips of various individuals, self-teaching became very convenient.…show more content… Those who weren’t qualified to hold these titles tended to disregard devoting themselves to being a pupil of the Catechism, and in turn, showed their great despise towards the wellbeing of others along with God and his word. Prioritizing the Catechism was essential because there was nothing more significant than the word of God that could affect the devil in a more impactful way. The incentive for making it a priority was the withdrawal of both the devil and his evil thoughts which came along with his presence.
