You may argue that capital punishment is better than life in prison the other way around. The story, “The Bet” is based on an argument which resulted in one of the men going to prison for almost 15 years. He left 5 minutes before the betted amount of time. The argument was between a young lawyer and a banker. The lawyer argued that life in prison was better. However, the banker agreed that capital punishment is better. Then they both made the bet. If the lawyer stayed in prison for 15 years, the banker would pay him 2 millions. The story ended ended with the lawyer learning a new philosophy of life by reading books and learning 6 new languages. I strongly believe that capital punishment is the wrong way to punish a human for the crime they commit. Killing someone is more expensive than sending them to prison.
