William Shakespeare. A name known by pretty much everyone on Earth. He was born over 400 years ago, and his work of shows little sign of losing popularity, but how could he still be relevant in the modern day? You would be surprised about how much of an impact Shakespeare has left on our society. A few of the reasons that Shakespeare is still relevant to modern students include; impact on modern TV, recurring characters, timeless themes and the language used.
Shakespeare has been one of the most influential writers ever. But how could his work have an impact on modern TV? They didn't even has TV’s back then! Well, Shakespeare wrote 37 plays in his time and since then there have been 525 movies that give Shakespeare some sort of writing credit. …show more content…
The theme of love has been seen in thousands of other romance movies. So, if this one play has inspired this many movie producers, it’s very obvious that he’s still relevant in today’s society.
Along with timeless themes, the characters are another important aspect that make up Shakespeare's plays. His characters are intricate but real, and anyone could relate to the characters as they battle through the various conflicts that could be related to real life. Throughout all of Shakespeare’s plays, there are certain character stereotypes. Some examples of these characters are; the jester (comedian), the wise person, and the compassionate character. These are characters that can not only be seen in Shakespeare’s work but many other movies, so
Shakespeare has influenced directors and producers of modern movies therefore he is very relevant today.
