The United States Constitution is a very important document for our country. In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on September 17th, 1787, Alexander Hamilton, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, and George Washington (who were among the total of 39 delegates) signed the Constitution. James Madison mainly wrote the Constitution. The Constitution was first written to replace the Articles Of Confederation, which created a weak government, and failed to give Congress the power to protect the country. The US Constitution provided the structure of a more ideal system of government. The purpose of the Constitution was to construct a government that allows more power to the people and divides power between state and federal government. The Constitution separates the powers of government into three branches: the legislative branch, which creates the laws; the executive branch, which carries out the laws; and …show more content…
The 19th Amendment allowed women to vote. All women were not allowed to vote until Aug. 6th, 1965. The 19th Amendment will allow me, as a women, to have say in upcoming presidential elections. The 19th Amendment reminds me of how unequal rights were for women compared to men, and makes me appreciate the women's suffrage. The 19th Amendment affects me in my daily life because women, were given equal voting rights, which means I can have an opinion on the 2016 presidential election. The 19th Amendment is important in modern times because since women have the right to vote, the votes of the women matter. The votes women cast influence our country, and makes women want to get involved in the voting process, be educated and up to date with elections. Recently, according to a Washington Post article, women vote was recorded to be at a higher rate than men, and this is all due to the 19th Amendment.
