The two battles of Saratoga were a turning point in the American Revolution and they were fought eighteen days apart in the fall of 1777. These battles were between Great Britain and the thirteen colonies in North America. 1777
The British army, after capturing Fort Ticonderoga, led by overconfident General John Burgoyne, crawled South at a tortoise pace, giving the Americans time to get themselves together under Horatio Gates.
