2) The traits given to me by friends and family include: mellow, funny, empathetic, stubborn and hardworking. These traits are mostly applicable to me. I try to maintain a calm and mellow demeanor most of the time, although my stubbornness often times gets into the way of that. I usually find myself not being swayed easily, and try to prove myself correct even if I know I am wrong. Despite this fact, I do not let most things get to me, attributing to my mellow manner. Making my friends laugh and smile is important to me, and personally, I believe I am funny enough to do so. Having a successful future is at the top of my list of goals, thus, I work as hard as I can inside and outside of school. I try my hardest on assignments, even if I find myself confused, because I believe it is better to try than not at all. Also, my pride does not let me turn in something I am ashamed of. When my friends and family find themselves in times of trouble, I attempt to put myself in their shoes and empathize with their situations, in order to make them feel better.

Scott Fitzgerald my junior year. Since then, it has become my favorite book. I fell in love with Fitzgerald’s writing style, and how he did not succumb to the idea that characters have to have redeemable qualities about them. Although the characters in the novel are not typically “good” people, you can learn something from each of them. Gatsby’s everlasting hope teaches readers the importance to never let go of your dreams, and in an opposite way, Nick’s realist personality brings people back to the ground and illustrates the idea that having everything does not mean you are happy, and having little does not mean you are unhappy. The Buchanans and all of their hardships and dysfunctional tendencies reveal the ups and downs life possesses, and how sometimes the down can outweigh the up. The story is unique and emotional, and is at the top of the list of my favorite
