Since the beginning of time, rivalries have split homes, families, states, and countries. For instance, my family is divided between 49ers and Raiders football teams. Often noticed in life, rivalries are inevitable. As rivalries are inevitable, so are certain events. World War One was one of these events. World War One was a war that started with who could flex their muscles the most, but it eventually unfolded into all out chaos. There were several reasons why the war took place at all, some of them include; constant military tension, rivalry between alliances, and also the assassination of a very important figurehead, Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

During the era in which World War One was happening, certain countries made alliances with other countries. One example of the alliances was the alliance between, France, Russia, and Britain. This alliance was known as the Triple Entente or sometimes called the Allied Powers. Each of the countries had a need that the other countries could help fulfill. The alliances thought their system was amazing, a win-win-win situation, but there were many more alliances to be considered, and they would constantly feud with one another, eventually leading to what we know now as World War One. It was a contest of who could flex their muscles the most gone wrong. It eventually grew into threat-filled and physical clashes between countries and alliances. Another part that contributed to the spark of the war was the fact that the men in this era were taught to protect their honor and country, even if that meant they had to die doing it.
