In “Why Kids Sext” Hanna Rosin argues that teens are sexting enormously now in days. Sexting occurs when someone sends sexually explicit images or messages by cell phone or email. Jasmine is one of the victims of sexting mentioned in this article. She is 15 years old and has found pictures of her body naked in social media sites. There were also friends of her in that page that she recognized, surely ruining her reputation. Jasmine was known to be a good student that only worked hard to keep up her good grades. Not expecting to wake up seeing this, Jasmine and her mom, Jennifer, tried to do whatever it took to bring the page down. After several reports to bring the Instagram page down, there was no results so they decided to try something else. Jennifer contacted the local deputy sheriff and he passed the message to someone superior to him with was Major Donald Lowe.…show more content… As he was called for help, little did he know that he was going to create a massive bust in teen sexting. He interviewed teens wondering why sexting was so common. Few teens said that sexting is not common, but the majority of students said it was happening almost everywhere. The causes for sexting vary among the students’ answers. It is common for sexting to happen through relationships. It all takes trust and a little few words of persuasion. It is mentioned in the article that boys are as hesitant when it comes to gathering picture. Students would even keep the conversation going for 30 messages until they get what they want.
