Every day kids around the world have to get up really early. It gets really old after a while, and you just want more sleep. Kids should always be well rested so they can learn to the best of their ability at school. For this to happen, schools should start later, because if kids do not get enough sleep they have a higher chance of being depressed, using tobacco as well as illegal drugs, and being overweight. 67% of high-school students fall asleep during class, and standardized test scores raise. For every one of these reasons school should start later. The first reason schools should start later is because parent do not want their kids to be depressed, become obese, or use tobacco or illegal substances at such a young age. They want their kids to be well rested so this does not happen. While it is true that after-school activities will not get over until really late, but scientists have proven that students in puberty need their sleep. Although I agree that part of life is managing a busy schedule with having to get up early, but kids in middle school and elementary school should not have to deal with this. All in all I think schools should start later. So, do you like schools the way it is? Well scientists have proven that kids need their sleep! In three articles I read I found three reasons why schools should start later. First, tired kids could lead to depression, using illegal drugs, and being obese; more and more kids are falling asleep in the middle of class. Lastly, test scores have been proven to raise dramasticly when students get more sleep. Next time you hit the snooze button just be glad you have an entire hour until the bus
