Why Should Isabel Join The American Revolution

In the middle of the revolutionary war, there is a young slave named Isabel who has her sister taken away from her by her master Mrs. Lockton, who is a large supporter of the British army. This leads to Isabel growing a hatred for the loyalists, and causes her to strike her master, and to get a brand on her forehead. Isabel is now furious at the loyalists, and so she starts to help the rebels by giving food to the rebel prisoners and much more. I believe that Isabel should not be helping the rebels in all the ways that she is, because they have never helped her, and that they have never defended her.

One of the most prominent events in the novel was when Isabel was branded. Before this event, Isabel had been spying for the rebels,and been risking sending herself to jail, all to try to help the underdog rebels. They repay her in no way whatsoever. When she is running from Madam Lockton, she goes into the rebel base, only to be given straight back to her master, which leads to her being branded. This might be true, but the British are standing for quite a good cause, and that they are just as patriotic, but just for a different country. The British army is fighting for the king, who they believe was chosen by god, so in a way, the are fighting for god. This is one of the best causes that I can think of especially because the people during the Revolutionary war were extremely religious. Another argument that i propose is that the loyalists will most likely come out as the victors, so why wouldn't you root for them? If the rebels lost, the British will most likely be very cruel to the remaining rebels. Isabel being a girl who puts her family in front of everything, should root for the
