Deciding to go to war for your country probably is the most difficult situation anyone has ever had to make. Everyone has an impact on the world and can change many lives. Well like in the story the Odyssey it has a connection just like the real world. War has a major impact on why soldiers went to war and how there are experiences in war that can affect you and others pending of the outcome of the war.
The reason why soldiers went to war in the odyssey is because when Paris of Troy took Helen from her husband Menelaus king of Sparta. Also “Menelaus recruited kings and soldiers from Greece to avenge his honor and recover his wife.” The reason why Odysseus ruler of the island of Ithaca came was because he found a way to make the Trojans think the Greeks gave up. Also with the amount of deaths, Poseidon was really mad at Odysseus. In book ten of the odyssey “Cannibals bombard the fleet with boulders”. At that time Odysseus his forty five men and one ship survived. Also during the war when the soldiers saw others being killed they were getting scarred for life seeing that happen to others they know. “Guerilla war increased the risk of PTSD” Paden said. Also almost all of the Vietnamese Veterans had PTSD hated the government because the patrols were sent out as decoys and then later killed so the veterans didn’t trust their officers.
