There are many people in the world who are influential. These people impact the world in a positive way by sticking with their opinions, influencing people, and having a legacy. An individual that shows these traits would be Italian polymath Galileo. Galileo is influential because he believed what he wanted no matter what people told him to think, his discoveries impacted the thoughts of others many years after he died, and he had a legacy. Galileo believed in a heliocentric universe. According to Starchild, it says, “After Galileo began publishing papers about his astronomical discoveries and his belief in a heliocentric, or Sun-centered, Universe, he was called to Rome to answer charges brought against him by the Inquisition (the legal body of the Catholic Church).” This tells me that Galileo believed that the universe is sun-centered.
