Julius Caesar was never the most popular ruler Rome has had, but he was never that bad of a ruler in the sense of what he did. The reason he was despised is mainly because people were jealous of him and of his money. They thought he would be too powerful and unruly and this idea was when people started to come up with the idea that he should be dethroned.

The idea of having Caesar dethroned was first started by Cassius, as he was the main plotter to dethrone him. Cassius was the man who convinced Brutus to join the conspiracy. Cassius and Brutus were the primary people who went to go get help to carry out the plan. While they were out recruiting, they had recruited even more people to help out. The new members were Casca, Cinna,
