Mansa Musa took a journey to Mecca for his god but was he considered the god. Mansa Musa had other motivating factors for doing his Hajj (pilgrimage to Mecca). Mansa Musa was one of the wealthiest people of all time and purposely showed off his wealth to people in his path to Mecca in doing so he seemed very powerful and the same with Mali his kingdom.

Mansa Musa was trying to gain trading partners Al-Umari says “They exchanged gold until they depressed its value in Egypt and caused its price to fall…” (Document E) Mansa Musa traded so much with a rare resource it must have to a lot of time.
