The Constitution The constitution is “The fundamental framework of America's system of government.” The Constitution tells the rights of the people and limits the government power. Without The Constitution, the government would have too much power and we the people would have no say in what can and can’t happen. The government plays an important role in our everyday lives but without something, like the constitution, to guide or limit their power, we would no longer be a free society. There are many important amendments in the Constitution but one I find very important would be the tenth amendment which basically gives us all of our rights. The constitution says, “ The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” - amendment 10. It tells us we have rights, we have powers in our own lives. It assures us that when all things were originally considered, that there are certain things the government will have control of in our lives. It assures us, that if it was not specifically mentioned or the power assigned to our government, that the power or decisions about it belong to us, the people. There is no other way to interpret what rights belong to us. If our founding fathers designed our nation, and their design has created a strength in our nation, as a people and a government, we certainly don’t need to start changing things now. Some things in our lives, even long ago, were so personal to us, as individuals that it was agreed upon that government should not be designated to control those things for us.
