As Malcolm X once said, “Education is a passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.” Malcolm X is a fascinating person to approach as an educational thinker, not because he was an academic or had any scholastic achievements, but as an example of what can be achieved by someone who engages in homeschooling or self-education. Every year, 1.2 million high school students dropout of school in the United States. Everyday, students dropout for many of reasons. Many states in the United States want students to stay in school until they are 18. Students should stay in school until they are 18 because it shows responsibility and it will help the student excel in life. Students who drop out of school do it for many different reasons some are good, most are bad. Students who drop out to help their family with financial issues are doing the right thing, but it will make it harder to get a good job when they are older. Students who drop out for these reasons are just making it harder for them. Students who make excuses for dropping out shouldn’t drop out. Some excuses are “I was failing too many classes,” “I didn’t like school,” or “I was bored.” Dropping out of school for these reasons is unbelievable. For starters, there is an abundance of paperwork, which is a hassle for both the staff and parents. Students who drop out are wasting their money and potential. Everyone has potential, but dropping out won’t help. It wastes money that the parents paid for previous years, if students drop out. Schools across the United States are slowly losing students because of excuses. As George Washington Carver said, “99% of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses.” This means that everyone makes excuses, which results in
