William Barret Travis was the commander of Texian rebels in the former mission known as Alamo wrote a plea on February 24,1836 and sent Captain Albert Martin to Gonzales with the letter. The enemy forces under Mexican dictator Santa surrounded the people (1000 or more Mexicans were surrounded) so the main idea to write this letter was to inflame the patriotic passion in people and rally them to his cause and that of Texas.
